hey folks
its been a while
anyway...I came across the guild webpage (have to find some stuff to read at work sometimes :) ) and saw the latest pic
being a complete and absolute noob in wow nowdays - I have no idea what boss it is, but my guess is that its the last one from new place (Ulduar or w/e) - I figured out that yet again you were first to change moving pixels in that place into static ones. so I just dropped in to give congrats on that :)
yet again server 1st, yet again the best - some things don't change

anyway
how is everyone?
its just a friendly hello, that's all it is

cheers,
starkad

heh been a while, what a busy month (over) it was...
nice to see you guys still kicking :)

@nem - cool, thanks. lots of changes (for good, I guess), lots of different things going on etc. how are you? everything fine with family etc?

@looria - I'm living with a wonderful woman since November. never had a desire for a car though :) that might change, we'll see. right now we're making plans to move to the other side of the world. and world domination will follow :D

@hummel - I actually was sure that you were an arsebandit :D

@vecna - hey nutsuckdildo (or whatever hummel is calling you now, I believe in his creativity :) ), how's going m8?

all in all, raiding with element for...how long was it? 1.5? 2 years?...was a bit similar to going out to a bar or a party with a bunch of cool people. something that's not going to get back (I'm done with WoW alltogether anyway since I left the guild, in september I think), but it always brings good memories of fun times. so again - good to see you guys are still out there :)

good luck

guess I should make congrats again for that achievement thingie, so - congrats. I'm not in the loop on whatever the fuck is that and what you get it for, but still, since you spent shitloads of time doing it, probably was worth it.

anyway, got a quick question or two.
I'm kinda having some free time (or - to be precise - going to have some free time soon), and for a moment I considered playing the game as a completely nooby casual. as some of you may remember, I've quitted the game right after 1st m'uru kill, which was exactly a year ago. haven't seen WotLK at all, I've read something about it recently, but all you can see on wow forums is constant whining about everything and everyone (and their dogs as well, of course).
I've seen things I don't like (not fond of the whole achievement idea tbh, and people going mental about it when you want to get into dungeons, from what I've read), but then I've also heard from some IRL friends that the game is completely different now than it used to be. some say it changed into something better, others say the opposite thing.

anyway, here's the question - is it worth getting in, as a casual, lets say for 1-2 h of playing / day (maybe less, maybe more, but lets keep to that for a moment)? since you know the game inside out, I'd just like a honest opinion.
also - how many of the old players are still on the server and active? I'm asking about general feeling - lots of people left, or still plenty of them hanging around?

thanks

Hey Starkad.

If you've left WoW I wouldn't come back, Blizzard is slowly making things easier and easier, providing the original challenge in the form of optional "hard modes". That's from a raiding perspective anyways. My views are that the game is slowing down as Blizzard move their resource allocation to their new MMO. If you want to play casually though, I'm sure there's plenty to do, just none of it as fun as getting a server first kill. :P

As for the old players, a lot have either quit playing or left for other guilds. There's about 10-15 people left from the M'uru days who are still active raiders in Element.

Hi Nid,

Thanks for your reply on this.
Sad thing there's not so many of you left. But 10-15 is still the core of the guild I know, that has been together for ages, and that's always nice to see :)
Server first kills - yeah, that was fun. thing is, I was starting to have some hard time at work then during m'uru times, and it felt like getting back from work and going to another one :D but still I didn't play simply because of that. you guys simply didn't fuck around :) and it was kinda cool to be a part of that.

ok, lets get a bit more specific with my questions then.
1. is the 70-80 content actually fun, or is it more like levelling in 5 days and that's it? I mean - if I don't rush levelling (and I have no interest in being 80 asap, unless its needed for something - right now its not), can I actually enjoy the content, quests, zones etc?
2. is there anything to do at 80 besides standing in Dalaran (or whatever is "the hang-out" place now)?
3. do people want to run regular dungeons (5mans) and are they worth seeing, or am I going to be in pain trying to find a group?
Point is - I could get my rogue to 80 and try to have some fun doing it, but if I end up getting to 80 and standing in the city, there's nothing fun in that. Then its either making an alt (again) or showing the middle finger to blizzard (again).

Thanks
